The Acura RDX and Honda CR-V are two SUVs that share many similarities. As the luxury division of Honda, Acura creates some models that are built upon Honda's platforms. That's the case for the RDX, which shares the same platform as the CR-V. So, if the vehicle structure is the same, how do these two crossover SUVs differ? We're here to show you. Keep reading for our comparison of the Honda CR-V vs. Acura RDX.

Exterior Design
When you compare the RDX and CR-V side-by-side, you'll notice a number of visual differences. The RDX is sleeker, with smoother lines and a more streamlined silhouette, while the CR-V looks more rugged and athletic. The RDX features the iconic Diamond Pentagon grille, a signature element of Acura vehicles; the CR-V has a hexagonal grille. Both models have LED headlights for crystal-clear visibility in the dark.
Performance
The RDX comes with standard Super Handling All-Wheel Drive (SH-AWD®) and a 2.0-liter VTEC Turbo engine. The CR-V can be purchased with either front-wheel drive or Real-Time All-Wheel drive with Intelligent Control System™, and it has an in-line 4-cylinder engine with a turbocharger. The RDX produces higher numbers in torque and horsepower, so if you're looking for an SUV with thrilling get-up-and-go, the Acura is the one for you. However, if towing is your aim, either model will be able to tow a maximum of 1,500 pounds.** Want a hybrid SUV? The CR-V is available as a hybrid or a traditional gas-powered vehicle, while the RDX is only available as the latter.
Interior Features
Inside the cabin of the RDX, you'll find features designed to keep you comfortable and elevate your experience with every drive. These include standard sport seats with leatherette upholstery, standard front 12-way power seats with power lumbar support, standard heated front seats with available ventilation, and a standard leather-wrapped steering wheel. A standard 60/40 split fold-down rear seatback makes loading cargo easy.
In contrast, the CR-V comes with more basic interior features on its base model, though elevated finishes are available on higher trims. Standard features include cloth-trimmed seats, a driver's seat with manual height adjustment, and a reclining, fold-down 60/40 split rear seatback.
Technology
The Acura RDX comes with a standard 10.2-inch HD dual-content center display, a standard seven-inch color multi-information display, and a standard Acura Premium Audio System with nine speakers. The Honda CR-V comes with a standard seven-inch color touchscreen, a seven-inch digital instrument cluster screen, and an audio system with four speakers.
Both models have even more impressive tech on their higher trims; for example, you can get the Acura/ELS Studio 3D® Premium Audio System with 16 speakers on the RDX's highest three trims. On the CR-V, you can get a Bose Premium Sound System with 12 speakers, including subwoofer, and a nine-inch color touchscreen.
Dimensions
The CR-V has a slightly roomier cabin than the RDX, with 106 cubic feet of passenger volume (as compared to the RDX's 104 cubic feet). However, the RDX has a little more cargo space with the rear seats folded, offering 79.8 cubic feet of maximum cargo volume. The CR-V offers 76.5 cubic feet of maximum cargo volume. Both models seat five people.
Which is Better: the Acura RDX or Honda CR-V?
At the end of the day, the right choice for you depends on your needs and preferences. The Acura RDX is a more luxurious vehicle that provides powerful performance, while the Honda CR-V is a more affordable option that's family-friendly and versatile.
